Home Centre - why you shouldn’t choose the delivery option

On 29th June I went into the Home Centre Showroom and purchased some furniture to be delivered initially on the 16th, with installation included.  As you can see from the receipt below, the delivery time would be during the “second session”- between 3pm and 10pm.  I called at the beginning of July to change the date to 2nd August as I was going to be on holiday.

Today, I stayed at home between 3pm and 10pm and I made a total of 16 calls to Home Centre – trying to get through to the 800 694663 number provided and the Mall of the Emirates shop 04 341 4441 and I also called the driver 3 times to try and establish when the products would arrive.  They NEVER ARRIVED.

7 hours at home. 19 useless calls. No products which I had already paid for

Calling the 800 number at the beginning would never connect.  I then called the showroom – the 04 number.  First time I was transferred they cut me off.  Second time I called they transferred me but then it cut. Third time I was transferred but no one picked up.

You’ll also note that I made a call to the 800 number at 17.28.  But that didn’t go through.

I made a further 5 calls to the 800 number at 17.48, followed by another 3 calls to the 800 number at 19.38, finally I spoke to someone who confirmed that my delivery driver name was Limba and the operator proceeded to give me his mobile number – 0553575740

I called the driver’s number and no answer at 19.40.  I called again at 21.02 and again no answer. I called a 3rd time at 21.26, and surprise surprise no answer.

I call back the 800 number at 21.26 and the operator tells me that:

1) they have 2 numbers for me (one was out of use but I received no contact on the working one)

2) The driver came at 17.28 but no one was at home

3) They called me on the mobile and no answer

4) Ramadan timings are 12 – 7

Remember that I ordered on the 29th of June and when I had called earlier in July to reschedule – there was no mention of Ramadan timings.

I had been at home all day during the specified time, and no note was left that anyone had been there. I certainly didn’t hear any knock at the door.

I had actually called at 17.28 – the supposed time of delivery and couldn’t get through.

I had called at 19.38 – supposedly AFTER the end of the delivery timings AND WAS TOLD that I could call the driver and he would deliver my goods.

Now I have to wait until August 12th to get my items delivered.

That basically means I’ve given Home Centre a 44 day line of credit.
